This intern will augment
the Benefits to Grazing Document that is an appendix to the Central Coast
Grazing Lands Non-Point Source Approach Document. The Benefits to
Grazing captures all benefits that result from ranching and cattle grazing:
cultural, social, economic, environmental, wildlife, fire control, flood
control, watershed management control, etc. The intern will do archive
research of Range Management Journals and Soil and Water Conservation
Society Journals in order to capture information that is not currently
available on the internet. The preference is that this intern would be

ORC is looking for a qualified WVIT major to assist in the laboratory for the 2009 harvest. Evening and weekend work is required, along with a strong work ethic and positive attitude.
Daily tasks include (but not limited to):
Prepare the lab for daily analysis and including machine calibrations and reagent standardization
Obtain accurate and representative tank and barrel samples
Perform basic analysis of grapes and must (Brix, pH, TA, YAN)
Perform analysis of wine at various stages of production (RS, Alcohol, D.O., FSO2, etc.)
Use lab equipment such as spectrophotometer, densitometer and alcolyzer
Prepare standards and reagents
Maintain Laboratory Q.C. and Q.A.
Communicate with several winemakers regarding daily analysis and fermentation status

The Monsanto Graduate Assistantship, offered
in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at Texas A&M University,

breeding and genetic improvement of crops. In addition, Monsanto supports
one assistantship in cotton production.
A total of 14 assistantships—each providing a
